Is it still meaningfull for newcommers to get involved with the testnet, or better to go with mainnet only?
Currently, there are no incentivised testnet challenges. You might wish to use the testnet if you are developing applications for the chain but don’t want to spend mainnet CCD while testing it. We also release new updates on testnet before mainnet, so you can preview these changes on testnet.

I’m not aware of further plans for incentivised testnet challenges at the moment.
